Terms of Service
Effective August 19, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of thechantstand.org and any donation, registration, or contact form on it (the "Site"), operated by The Chant Stand, Inc., a nonprofit corporation ("The Chant Stand," "we," "us"). By using the Site, making a donation, or registering for an event, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who we are
The Chant Stand, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching Byzantine chant to young Orthodox Christians, primarily through the Young Aspiring Chanters (YAC) Conference, instruction, and worship. The Chant Stand is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
2. Eligibility
The Site itself is open to all visitors. Registration for a YAC Conference is limited to participants who meet the age and eligibility requirements stated on the conference registration page, currently ages 18 to 35. Conference participants also accept a separate Liability Waiver & Media Release at the time of registration, which governs participation in the event itself.
3. Donations
Donations made through the Site are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. By donating, you authorize the charge to your selected payment method.
The Chant Stand is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation, and donations are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We do not provide tax advice; consult a tax professional about your specific situation. A donation receipt is provided by Stripe or by request to info@thechantstand.org.
Donations are non-refundable except where required by law or at The Chant Stand's discretion. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us and we will work with you in good faith.
4. Event registration and fees
Registering for a YAC Conference or related ticketed event (such as the Glendi) reserves your place and is processed through Stripe. Fees, what they include, and any early-registration pricing are stated on the relevant conference page at the time you register.
Registration fees are generally non-refundable. If a conference is canceled, postponed, or materially changed by The Chant Stand, we will contact registered participants about available options, which may include a refund, transfer, or credit at our discretion.
Scholarships are available for participants for whom cost is a barrier; contact info@thechantstand.org.
5. Conduct at events and on the Site
Conference participants are expected to follow the code of conduct set out in the Liability Waiver & Media Release accepted at registration. On the Site, you agree not to misuse any form, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its underlying systems, or use the Site to transmit anything unlawful, harassing, or fraudulent.
6. Photography and media
Conference participants grant certain rights to photograph, record, and use their likeness under the Liability Waiver & Media Release accepted at registration. Photographs and recordings from conferences and other events may also appear on the Site, in newsletters, and on social media for promotional, educational, and fundraising purposes.
7. Intellectual property
The Site's design, text, graphics, and the YAC and Chant Stand marks are owned by The Chant Stand or used with permission, and may not be copied or reused without our written consent. Chant instruction materials made available through The Chant Stand are for personal, non-commercial use unless we state otherwise in writing.
8. Third-party services and links
The Site uses Stripe to process payments and may link to third-party sites, such as host parishes or diocesan websites, that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party site or service.
9. Disclaimers
The Site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Chant Stand and its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or participation in a donation or registration transaction. Nothing in this section limits the separate Liability Waiver & Media Release governing conference participation.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Chant Stand and its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or violation of these Terms.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Site will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
